Tylney Room Display 26/01/13
Once again in January Dancetime pupils took to the floor at
the Tylney Room, Leatherhead Leisure Centre for their 10th Annual Display.
Ready to start |
Pupils demonstrated a cross section of dances learned in
class. Styles included were freestyle, street, line dance and Latin American.
Children as young as 2 years old joined in with some
preparatory freestyle steps and fun dances. Not to be outdone, our very capable
adults showcased many line dances including a well performed waltz.
Touch your toes |
Lucy and Jade ably waltzed around our line dancers,
mastering the many turns required, and pupils from our Springers class
partnered each other for a complex mambo routine. Oliver confidently led Sophie
in a shorter version – no mean achievement for one so young!
Very brave! |
The audience were thrilled by our youngest soloist, Emma, as
she danced freestyle to a Janet Jackson song. Jade stepped in last minute to
join Katie in a pair’s routine which was superbly executed. Abigail and
Heather, and Lucy and Geena choreographed their own pair’s routines and danced
them beautifully. Kirsty’s freestyle solo included many contemporary moves this
year and was performed with flair. Katie danced the Stepper’s Challenge line
dance by herself and couldn’t be faulted.
Pairs routine |
There was an element of surprise when a track from Leadbelly
dated 1945 was played but this turned to laughter as the fun dance performed by
all our pupils over the age of 8 years progressed.
Successful medallists |
At the end of the display Audrey Sawyer presented pupils
with the awards they earned at our medal test in November.
The wide grins from the audience throughout the display
proved it is an event not to miss. Make sure you attend next year!
