Adults

ADULTS

Promenade position.

The Adult class teaches both Ballroom and Latin American dances.

No previous experience is necessary but a partner is required.

How to lead, follow and dance comfortably as a couple is emphasised.

Dances are taught slowly so the steps can be easily understood. Each couple is encouraged to improve at their own rate as new figures are introduced.

The objective is to be able to dance around dance floor with confidence and to extend one's own repertoire of dances and figures.

Interested pupils may take part in out medal tests.

Successful candidates.

Groovers

GROOVERS

Smiling faces!

The Groovers class involves keeping fit in an enjoyable way. Freestyle and line dances are taught.

Freestyle (disco) dances are to current music and golden oldies, and involves arm and body movements to use those muscles that rarely get an airing. Line dance explores a variety of rhythms: Country and Western, popular music, Waltz and Latin.

We dance anywhere!

The class is friendly and each dance is taught through repetition and careful build up of moves. It is small enough to see all the steps and learn at your own pace.

Coordination and timing is improved as new steps are acquired. Dances range from beginner to intermediate so everyone is stretched.

There are opportunities for taking medals and joining our annual display or just come and have fun!

Steppers

STEPPERS

Freestyle dance requires good balance!

Pupils attending the Steppers class dance to a wide range of current music. Freestyle, slow freestyle, contemporary and line dance are taught as a group. Pairs and Team dances are included.

Pupils regularly choreograph their own dances.

Medals may be taken and there is an annual display for all our pupils.

Springers

SPRINGERS

Freestyle moves.

The Springers class extends each pupil's dance skills. Freestyle and line dances are taught in class. Pupils may also learn ballroom and Latin American dances through one to one teaching and partnering each other. Technique, styling and coordination are improved. Pupils have the opportunity to dance in pairs and to choreograph their own dances.

Ready to dance!

Medal tests are available for interested pupils who have reached the required standard and an annual display is held in January.

Twirlers

TWIRLERS

Having fun with pom poms

Pupils in the Twirlers class learn freestyle and line dances through which they improve their rhythm, timing and coordination. Latin American and ballroom dances are taught individually whilst small group work teaches new techniques and styling.

All pupils have the opportunity to enter medal tests when they have attained the required standard.

An annual display is held in January where Twirlers demonstrate their dance skills. Dancing with partners and using pom poms is part of the programme.

Jigglers

JIGGLERS

Concentration!

The Jigglers class for 5-6 year olds is friendly and exciting. Freestyle and line dance are interspersed with fun dances. Children learn coordination and timing - both essential elements of dancing! Latin American and ballroom steps are taught on a one to one basis. Various other steps and movements are taught in small groups. Hoops, beanbags and other items are used to enhance our teaching. Dancing with a partner is part of the programme.

Interested pupils may take awards when they have reached the required standard.

Learning partner dances.

Each pupil is given the opportunity to take part in our annual display held in January and various school displays as they arise.

Wigglers

WIGGLERS

Dressing up as bunnies.

Our Wigglers class is designed for pupils who are 3-4 years old. The 45 minute session combines dancing to well-known rhymes and fun songs with simple freestyle and line dance routines. Some of the popular dances involve dressing up or using props. Children are also taught the basic steps in Latin American and ballroom through one to one teaching. Steps and movements are taught in small groups to improve progress. Pupils are able to take awards once they have reached the required standard.

Do you like my hat?

Pupils are given the opportunity to take part in our annual display.

Skippers

SKIPPERS

The Skippers class is for 2 to 3 year olds who love to move.

Through rhymes and simple disco songs pupils learn the basics of dance. They experience different rhythms designed to help with coordination and timing.

The dances are fun and some involve dressing up or using props. The 30 minute session is just right for the attention span of little ones.

Independence and voice is encouraged. Pupils learn when to be still and when to move, left and right and counting to 8. Very first steps in ballroom and Latin American are taught.

Mum’s may stay until their child has settled (at the risk of bring roped in!) or sit in the ante room and chat.
